Rustic Barn Bedding
Alex and Mary
This Rustic Barn Wedding of Alex and Mary was such a joy to photograph! However, before we dive into all the details about their wedding day, I must tell you a little story about the first time I met Alex and Mary. So we met at my studio space and was having a great conversation about their upcoming nuptials. Mary brought her little guy Carson to the consultation and he was being a great kid while sitting on his moms phone playing a game patiently. As I was going over wedding albums with Alex and Mary, all of a sudden Carson vomited! Like projectile vomit! OMG! All over the place! I immediately got up and got some towels/napkins for Alex and Mary to help with cleaning up. As horrifying as it was, it was hilarious! It came out of nowhere and by the end we were all laughing so hard! We still laugh about it to this day and I kinda think that’s why Alex and Mary felt like they HAD to choose me as their photographer 😂. So it’s a win win situation right?
Alex and Mary love spending time with their friends and family. They also enjoy doing puzzles and trying out new recipes for their smoker. What makes them work together as a couple is that they are complete opposites. Alex is super outgoing and loves to be involved. Mary is more of a realist and keeps him grounded. She loves that he isn’t afraid to try something new and that he has such a big heart.
The Proposal
Alex and Mary met many many years ago. Mary was great friends with Alex’s younger brother but it wasn’t until many years later that they started a relationship. About their proposal, Alex and Mary have birthdays just a few days shy of each other. One year Alex planned a big girls day out for Mary for her birthday and all her closest friends. The girls were on their way to lunch when they randomly stopped at Nationwide Area Arch for a friend. When they were out taking pics of the area, Alex came out of hiding. Totally surprised Mary with flowers and a ring! She was in shock. After she said yes, all her family came out of hiding cheering for the both of them. Super cute!
The Wedding
Alex and Mary recited their vows to one another at Hilliard United Methodist Church. Before the ceremony, Mary’s mom gave her a handkerchief that was once her baby bonnet. All the tears were flowing! Once they said I do, we traveled to downtown Columbus for some photos. Stopping at the place where it all began and the Scioto Mile. Their reception was held at a friends private property. Everyone devoured amazing food from food trucks and participated in a dance called Fishing in the Dark. Mary’s inspiration for her rustic barn wedding was, simple and relaxed. They are super laid back so they wanted everyone to just have a great time.
One word Mary and Alex would use to describe them as a couple would be growing. They chose this word because a relationship isn’t always rainbows and unicorns. You’re going to have ups and downs, trials and tribulations. Through it all, they continue to grow. They grow as a couple, their love grows, their family grows. 💖
