James and Helen
Their story
Helen and James had known each other casually for ten years before they bumped into each other one night and he wowed her with his “sweet dance moves”. On their 3rd anniversary James surprised her with what she thought was going to be a fun photo shoot in the park but then he got down on one knee and proposed! He had told her not to expect a proposal and had his good friend, who was also a photographer, meet them in the park. James waited until the perfect moment, just as the sun was setting, to pop the question and his friend was able to capture it all with his camera!
The wedding day
The wedding was as beautiful and romantic as James’ perfectly planned proposal. Helen’s dress was stunning and picture worthy all on its own. The light coming in the window really illuminates the floral details on the dress.
Helen’s bridesmaids were all a delight. I had so much fun photographing this group as they helped Helen into her dress. Mom was there too and when she finally got into that dress it was a magical moment. There was tears and laughter as Helen read through some cards from James and she enjoyed her first moments in her dress. I love the shots of her draped elegantly across the sofa. It was such a soft and emotional moment in the moments leading up to her walk down the aisle.
The wedding was beautiful. When Helen entered the church on her father’s arm you could see she took James’ breath away. Helen and James described it as soft romantic and I think those words were a perfect description. It was simple and classic with the focus on the couple. The ceremony was perfect from their vows to their first tender kiss as a married couple.
It was a stormy day but the rain let up just in time for us to get some fantastic post ceremony shots in the park. The girls were both elegant and playful and the boys showed both their fun side and their serious side. I even got to see some of those sweet dance moves that won Helen over! You can see even more of James & Helen’s fun dance moves from their engagement session here.
My favorite shots in the park, however, were those of just Helen and James. Helen’s accessories were so stunning I just had to get some close up shots. I was sure to capture her bouquet as well. Close up, you can see how delicate and lovely the pale pink of her flowers was. It was an honor to be a part of their first moments together as husband and wife and to capture those tender moments between the two of them.
The reception was a blast! There was more tears, more tender moments, and of course more sweet dance moves.
Thanks Helen and James for letting me share your big day with you!
