The Westin is a gorgeous historic hotel located in the heart of downtown Columbus. It has beautiful marble floors and tons of gold accents everywhere you look inside the grand ballroom. It’s luxurious, timeless, classic and elegant in every way. That is why The Westin is one of my top favorite venues in Columbus, Ohio. It’s also super convenient for wedding guests coming in from out of town. Plus lots of other things to do in the surrounding downtown Columbus area.
When asking Kara and Alex if there was a defining moment they knew they wanted to be together forever, Alex said it was the first time he laid eyes on Kara. Within three months of dating, Kara said she also knew he was the one for her. They love hanging out with their friends and family. Going on walks with their golden retriever aka Wild Walter, traveling the world and eating. Kara would be fine to completely eat her way through life if she could.
Some of their favorite moments about their wedding day was having an intimate first look. They loved being able to share those quiet moments together before the ceremony. Kara and Alex went back and fourth with the idea of writing their own vows and ultimately decided to go for it. Now they’re so glad they did it and made it through! They’ll always have that to remember on how they felt during those moments.
Another favorite part of their day was going out for husband and wife portraits. We took a short walk over to Columbus Commons where Kara and Alex rode on a carousel like young kids in love. And danced in the sunlight of golden hour. They loved getting away just for a little while to soak in everything that had happened throughout the day. It was an incredible feeling for the both of them. Kara remembers going back into the reception and telling her mom how much fun she had and how perfect her day was. I couldn’t agree more!
One piece of advice Kara can give to couples planning their big day is that when planning gets stressful just remember the purpose of the wedding. To unite with the one you love.
