The Darby House
Olivia and Craig’s Summer Wedding
The Darby House is a beautiful picturesque wedding venue located just west of Columbus, Ohio and sits on the Darby Creek Metro State Park. It was a stunning backdrop for Olivia and Craig. Their day was filled with special moments they won’t soon forget. You can read more about them, the big proposal and the day they became husband and wife.
Him & Her
Craig is a civil engineer who loves riding his bike. Olivia is a kindergarten teacher who enjoys baking. Together, they love rooting on the Buckeyes (O-H!), spending time with friends and family, taking outdoor adventures and taking their sweet puppy for walks.
How They Met
Craig and Olivia met in College at OSU. Craig moved in across the street from Olivia and after a few failed attempts at getting her attention; she gave in. They spent some time as friends before falling in love. That was only the beginning of their story.
The Proposal
On a chilly December day, Craig, his family and Olivia spent the day picking out a tree to decorate for Christmas. Afterward, Olivia was persuaded to run an errand so Craig’s family could decorate the barn for “family photos”. She had no idea so much planning and preparing was going on! At one point Olivia almost ruined the surprise by heading to the barn. Craig convinced Olivia to, instead, get ready for the photo shoot later that evening. Afterward, Craig and Olivia went to the store but Craig “forgot his wallet”, so they had to head back home. On the way home, Craig called his family to head to the barn for photos before it was too dark. When they arrived, no one else was there. It was then that Craig asked Olivia to marry him! In complete shock, Olivia kept asking, “is this real?!”, but she quickly looked up to see the barn beautifully lit with the words, “Mary Me?” in Christmas lights. To complete the perfect evening, Olivia turned to see her friends and family had arrived to celebrate in their engagement!
Favorite Ceremony Moments
They had a fun pre-celebration at Bar 23 the night before the wedding. It was a fun, relaxing way for both families to mingle and enjoy one another’s company before the big day. The day of the wedding, Olivia opened a “Notes to the Bride” book that her sister put together for her. Her family and bridesmaids wrote sweet notes to read before the wedding. Craig was so excited and relieved all at once the moment they were pronounced husband and wife. They got to look into the crowd to see their loved ones in celebration of their love!
Favorite Reception Moments
When Olivia’s dad was giving a speech, he asked them to stand up to look at all the people there to celebrate them as husband and wife. It was such an amazing moment for them! They enjoyed dancing the night away with family and friends.
Their Plans After the Honeymoon
They just purchased a home and can’t wait to begin the process of making their house feel like home. They also just added a puppy to their family and can’t wait to watch him grow!
Their Wedding Advice
“Do whatever you want for your reception. People say you have to go around to each table to talk with everyone or you have to dismiss each row at the ceremony: do whatever you want! We wanted to spend as much time dancing with friends and family as possible so that is what we did! We also recommend getting people together the night before if possible because it was so nice to actually be able to spend time with out of town guests. The wedding goes by too fast to actually spend time with everyone so that was super nice”
